HOW TO PREP AND PAINT A ROOM STEP BY STEP
1 move/remove furniture

cover floors
3 patch/spackle as neededmove/remove
furniture
4 start fans to begin drying
process
5 if trim is being painted
caulk and1st coat window and door edges

prepare setup for ceiling, tape off sleeve to remove excess lint
7 cut ceiling (check for drips on walls and corners)
8 roll ceiling (check for drips
on walls and corners)
9 tape base,
window sills, door edges,outlets and ceilings (if not being painted)
10 remove outlet covers and switchplates (no vents cable outlets or phone jacks/outlets)
MAKE SURE THAT ALL TAPE IS TIGHT NO GAPS
12 2nd coat ceiling if needed (cut first roll second)
13 sand patches (turn off fans to eliminate dust flow)
14 prime patches with flat paint (use fans to speed up drying time)
15 prepare setup for walls, tape off sleeve to remove excess lint
16 cut walls 1st coat starting with lower areas first
17 roll walls first coat roll to the tape
18 cut walls 2nd coat as you complete each wall roll each wall with 2nd coat
19 use fans to speed up drying time
20 paint trim if needed
CLEAN-UP
pour excess paint from walls and
ceiling back into their containers and place items on designated drop (outside of room if possible)
pull tape from ceilings, windows, doors and last from the base and place in trash
put outlets covers and switchplates on
begin removing drops by shaking and folding them over designated drop and placing
them into a pile
remove plastic and place in recycle container
check
room for touch-up
clean set-ups in designated clean-up
sink
remove drops and trash
fold designated drop being careful not to allow large pieces of trash/debris on floor
vacuum room
place furniture back into room
