Green Apple Painting founder Ray Akers has many titles; muralist, faux finisher,
and contractor. In 1995 Ray, completed his apprenticeship program in Chicago with the International Brotherhood of Painters
and Allied Trades. After several years Ray was well versed in many areas of painting such as drywall repair, wood staining, as
well as lacqeur and enamel spray finishes. Ray also spent several years in the field of residential repaints where he
learned the basics of working with colors and homeowners. It was then he felt he had more to offer.
In the Spring of 2003 Ray started Green Apple Painting. After majoring in Art and Design
for 2 years at Concordia University Ray's specific goal was to create new designs and paint finishes that
he could offer to Chicago area customers and quickly began working on his Green Apple Exclusives collection. Slowly
but surely the word spread about Green Apple Painting's innovative designs and faux finishes.
